Day and the life
Hey there; fellow Gen ers! It’s your girl Taylor here; and I’m stoked to share some exciting news with you all. If you’re wondering what’s its like to work as an adjuster; let me break it down for you. Yes that is a water drop just close up.
7:30 AM – Coffee and Chaos You start your day with a strong cup of coffee, the lifeblood of any good claims adjuster. As you settle in, your phone rings immediately: “A tree fell on my garage… but it might have been a neighbor’s tree. Or a squirrel might have pushed it,” the panicked voice says. You take a deep breath, knowing it’s going to be one of thosedays.
8:30 AM – The Great Squirrel Debate By now, you’re on-site, standing next to a homeowner who is convinced the squirrel in question had a vendetta against his garage. You’re trying to keep a straight face while examining the “crime scene,” only for the alleged squirrel to appear, staring down at you from a tree. It’s as if the squirrel is mocking both you and the policyholder. You make a mental note: Add “squirrel investigator” to resume.
10:00 AM – Water, Water Everywhere Your next stop is a basement flooding case. The homeowner leads you into a room that could double as an indoor swimming pool. “The sump pump stopped working,” they say, as their dog happily splashes around. While you’re trying to navigate the puddles and take notes, the dog decides you’re its new best friend and gives you a big, soggy hug. You think about how glamorous your job is and laugh to yourself.
So it’s more like an er shift than a busy day pushing paper. I did this job for 2 years at a big Ins company and it was fun and hard. Fun as you never thought pets could cause so many problems, hard as you deal directly with loss of property and sometimes more. You have to be patient with people and have a heart as you never know it could be you with the water everywhere!
